SS. Peter & Paul School Family Newsletter Week of December 17 – 21, 2007
Sacrament of Reconciliation - SSPP students in Grades 3 – 8 will celebrate the sacrament of Reconciliation on Wednesday, December 19 at 10:00 AM.
Christmas Vacation – SSPP school will dismiss at noon on Thursday, December 20, 2007 for Christmas vacation. Classes resume on Thursday, January 3, 2008.
Ipod Raffle – The drawing for the Ipod raffle will be held on Tuesday, December 18. Tickets are $1.00 each.
Christmas basket raffle - The 8th grade is raffling a Christmas basket of goodies and toys for the Holy Childhood Association. Tickets are $1.00 each. The drawing will be held on Tuesday, December 18.

Week of December 10 – 14, 2007
Santa's Cottage - We will be holding Santa's Cottage at SS. Peter & Paul on Monday, December 10 and December 11.
Students may purchase gifts for their family members. Average prices of items range from $1.50 to $8.50. If you want your children to make purchases at school, please send money in an envelope on Monday or Tuesday.
Hot Lunch – Hot Lunch orders for the month of January are due on Wednesday, December 12, 2007.
Toy & Clothing Drive - The Student Council is having a toy and clothing drive during the month of December.
We will accept new and good used toys to give to Catholic Charities this month. Clothing may also be donated as well.
Christmas program – SS. Peter & Paul School will present "A Light of the World" on Thursday, December 13 at 7:00 PM in the church. Student should wear a nice shirt, skirt, and slacks for the
performance.
Milk – Milk orders are due for the month of January on Friday, December 14, 2007. Milk is $3.00 per month. Please specify white or chocolate.
Christmas vacation – SS. Peter & Paul School will dismiss at 12:00 noon on Thursday, December 20. Classes resume on Thursday, January 3, 2008.
Legislative Action – Please contact Governor Rod Blagojevich and urge him to sign Senate Bill 783 (School Safety Block Grant) which will give $32.00 per student to nonpublic schools for mandated health and
safety measures.
Please identify yourself and the school you are from when you contact his office. It will mean around $5,000 to SSPP school for additional security or fire prevention equipment etc. Our children and their health and safety are as important as any children in public schools. You may contact him at

Week of December 3 – 7, 2007
8th Grade Visit to Marquette – The 8th grade class will visit Marquette Catholic High School on Tuesday, December 4. Permission slips have been sent home with the students.
Jesse Tree – During Advent the students will participate in the Jesse Tree ceremony each Tuesday in December (4, 11, 18) at 7:55 AM.
The Jesse Tree tells the story of the coming of Jesus through the Old Testament. You are welcome to join us on Tuesdays in the main hall.
St. Nick Day – Thursday, December 6 is St. Nick Day. Students may wear jeans and a red or green shirt for the day! Send a shoe with your child on that day to place outside the door to receive
a gift from St. Nick.
8th Grade Raffle – The 8th grade is currently sponsoring two raffles. One is for an Apple Ipod Nano 4 GB. Tickets are one dollar each. Proceeds will go towards their Chicago trip. The second raffle is a Christmas basket to benefit the Holy Childhood Association.
Tickets are one dollar each. The drawing for both raffles will be Tuesday, December 18.
World Book Online – SSPP school subscribes to World Book online.
It is available for use by our students and families. It contains all of the articles of information available in the World Book encyclopedia. World Book online can be accessed at our website www.ssppsch.com or at http://www.worldbookonline.com. The remote(login) ID is ssppsch and the password is ssppwb.
Computer Monitors - We have several computer monitors that are no longer in use. If you need one for home, please contact Miss Fischer.
Christmas program - SS. Peter & Paul School will present "Light of the World" on Thursday, December 13, 2007 at 7:00 PM in the church.
Speaking Parts - Parents if your child has a speaking part in the Christmas musical (they know who they are and they have their readings) please practice with them. They tend to speak too fast.
We need the students to read LOUD AND SLOW! Thanks!
Movie Night - The 8th grade will hold a movie night on Friday, December 7, 2007 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM for students in Grades K – 5. Donation is $5.00 per student and includes popcorn and soda. A pre-registration form will be sent home with each student. NO PRE-SCHOOLERS!
Students must be signed in by a parent when they are brought to the movie night.
