SS. Peter & Paul School Family Newsletter Hot Lunch – Hot Lunch orders for the month of March are due on Wednesday, February 27, 2008. Bowling - As soon as the Bowling field trip is rescheduled a new permission slip will be sent home with the students! Servers – One server is needed for the Easter Vigil Mass on Saturday, March 22, at 8:00 PM. If you can serve, please call Mrs. Noel at the rectory. 465-4221. Items for Our Soldiers – We are collecting items for our soldiers overseas. A list was sent home with items the church and school are collecting to be boxed up in the next couple of weeks. Please send donations to your child's homeroom. Thanks! Holy Thursday – Couples are needed for the washing of the feet on Holy Thursday, March 20th, at the 7:30 PM mass. Please call Mrs. Noel at the rectory if you wish to participate. 465-4221. Pre-School Registration – Registration for Pre-School for 3 and 4 year olds will be held on Monday, March 3, 2008 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM in the school office. Pre-schoolers must be potty-trained to attend. A registration fee of $70.00 is due at the time of registration. Kindergarten Registration - Kindergarten registration & screening will be held on Monday, March 10 and Tuesday, March 11, 2008 for Fall 2008. Kindergarteners must be five years old on or before September 1, 2008 to attend. A baptismal and birth certificate are required at the time of registration. Please call the school office at 465-8711 to make an appointment. Milk – Milk is due on Friday, February 29, 2008 for the month of March. Milk is $3.00 per month. Please specify white or chocolate.
Week of February 11 – 15, 2008 Computer class – Students will have computer class this week (Monday – Thursday). Reconciliation Meeting – There will be a Parent Meeting on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at 7:00 PM in the school cafeteria for 2nd grade parents of those students receiving First Reconciliation. One parent must attend the meeting. Bowling – The Student Appreciation Day of Bowling at Riverboat Lanes has been rescheduled for Thursday, February 21, 2008. Please mark your calendars. Valentine's Day – Thursday, February 14, 2008 is Valentine's Day. Students may wear jeans and a red shirt for the day. Students must bring a Valentine for each student in the class! Please contact the homeroom teacher for the number of valentines needed for the entire class. Trivia Night – If you have not reserved your table for Trivia on February 23, please call and do that!! Tables of 8 – 10 are $15.00 per person or $120.00 per table and includes beer, soda, pretzels, and popcorn. To make this a successful fundraiser, we need many more reservations. PRIZES are $300 for the first place, $200 for the 2nd place, and $120. for third place. Call 462-5961 for reservations. 50/50 – Congratulations to Linda Kelley, winner of the January 50/50! To participate in the 50/50 fundraiser, please fill out the attached 50/50 coupons or contact Colleen Gaskill at 618-466-2099. Stations of the Cross – Students will participate in Stations of the Cross at 2:00 PM on Fridays during Lent. Personal Safety Video Permission Slips – The permission slips to watch the personal safety videos as required by the Diocese of Springfield have been sent home with each student. The permission slips are due back by Wednesday, February 13, 2008. Pre-School – We are now taking reservations for Pre-school for the 2008 – 2009 school year. The program will be for three and four year olds in the mornings. Please contact the school office at 465-8711 to place your child on the list for next fall
Week of February 4 – 8, 2008 Catholic Schools Week – Thank you to the students, parents, and our teachers for making Catholic Schools Week such a success. The students did a fantastic job dressing for Tacky Tourist and History days! Thank you for all of your support. Book Fair – Thank you for supporting our school Book Fair. We sold $1800.00 in books and we were able to add 146 new books to our school library. Camp Ondessonk – Representatives from Camp Ondessonk will be here on Monday,, February 4 to talk to grades 3 – 8 about summer camp. School Closings – All school closings are broadcast on the following stations: Super Bowl Free Dress – My annual bet with our maintenance man, Mr. Amistadi is on once again. If his team, the Patriots win the Super Bowl on Sunday, the students may wear jeans and a red, white, or blue shirt on Monday. If my team, the Giants win on Sunday, the students may wear white or blue shirts on Monday with their jeans! GO GIANTS!!! NO HAIRPAINTING! Market Day – Market Day orders pick-up day is Tuesday, February 5, 2008 from 5:00 – 6:00 PM in the school cafeteria. Lent – Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Holy Season of Lent. Students will attend mass at 8:15 AM on Wednesday, February 6, 2008. Stations of the Cross – The Students will participate in the Stations of the Cross each Friday at 2:00 PM in church. You are welcome to attend with us. Progress Reports – Progress Reports for the 3rd quarter will be mailed home the weekend of February 8, 2008. Yearbooks – Yearbook orders are due on Friday, February 8, 2008. Yearbooks are $9.00 each. Please make checks payable to SS. Peter & Paul School. Young Authors – Manuscripts are due to the homeroom teacher by Friday, February 8, 2008. Pre- School- SS. Peter & Paul School will be offering Pre-school for 3 and 4 year olds next fall. If you have a child ready for Pre-school, please call the school at 465-8711 to be placed on the reserved list.
