Bob Reineke

Bob addressed the PSA parents present. He wanted to deliver the message that the PSA is an important part of the school and that the church and parish council feel that we are doing a great job.  He also wanted to bring to light the amount of money that is needed to run the school.  They are (as outlined by Bob):

  • The total expense for the school for this year is budgeted at $573, 831. The total income from the school towards this expense is $356, 800 ($300,000 comes from tuition). That leaves approximately $215,000 of the expenses that are not covered.
  • Electricity/Gas $40,000
  • Paper Towels $3,200
  • The cost to educate a student is $2,883 (based on 199 students). Of that number, $1,090is not covered by tuition fees – this piece comes from the parish.
  • Over the years we have received some endowments that has helped defer the cost for the school.
  • Some of the things that the parish has paid for over the years for the school that is not covered by tuition are: restrooms refurbished - $46,000, new A/C & Heat units $78,000
  • Shape $24,000 (PSA pays a fourth of this cost.)  They are looking at an alternative for next year but the cost will be the same.

The FACTS program has helped even out the tuition incoming that offsets the expenses.

We have 700 families enrolled as members of our parish- about 50% of those are active members.

Rich Gillespie is our liaison for the parish council.  Carla Gillespie and Marcia Houchens have been doing a good job of keeping him abreast of our activities and he is reporting back to the council.

There was discussion of how we seem to be split as a school and parish.  It was commented on how little is done for new members and mingling between the parents and parishioners.  Some suggestions were made about a welcoming committee or a buddy program for new families in the church or school.
